Genoa manager Alberto Gilardino was elated with his team’s performance after they handled Roma in their 4-1 win at home.

The Ligurians dealt Jose Mourinho’s side their third defeat of the season, putting the capital club in crisis club after just six rounds of the league campaign.

“A great match and super performance,” Gilardino told DAZN.

“Our attitude was great and the lads showed a very heroic spirit tonight despite dealing with numerous injuries. The squad is alive and eager for more–that goes for everyone, including those coming off the bench.”

He added, “Our second goal was exceptional from a teamwork perspective. The others were nice but that one was especially pleasing. Let’s remember Roma are not easy, but the guys still played very well.”

“The attackers tonight were great. We work after training on certain movements and losing their marker with all our attackers. Retegui is hungry and eager to succeed, hopefully he can keep going just like this.”
