Defender Koni De Winter was the hero for Genoa on Sunday after his late goal earned the team a late 1-1 draw against Roma.
Marking his first goal in Serie A, the youngster couldn’t hide his excitement during his post match interview.
“I am very happy for the team and the fans—but I’m also very glad to have scored my first goal in Serie A,” remarked De Winter to DAZN.
“I think it was a free kick, so I went to the far post. Then I saw that it wasn’t a free kick, so I went into the area, an excellent, excellent cross arrived and I scored.”
He continued, “After the defeat against Hellas Verona, we wanted to give our best and take some points, so obviously we’re glad about that.”
“We are a team that makes a lot of sacrifices, we give everything on the pitch. I’m happy.”
