Gent boss Jess Thorup: “Tomorrow will be difficult, but we want to qualify at all costs”.

Gent boss Jess Thorup held his pre-match press conference today as his side will host Roma tomorrow in Belgium for the second leg of their Europa League tie.

The Giallorossi won the first leg 1-0 in Rome, though, the Belgians did cause Paulo Fonseca’s side some issues.

“If you would’ve told me we would be facing Roma, it wouldn’t take much time to realise it’d be very difficult,” he said.

“We’re disappointed with how last weekend ended, we played very well but couldn’t manage to score. Tomorrow will also be difficult, we can’t allow Roma to score otherwise we’ll be forced 3 goals of our own. We must be prepared”.

“We don’t care how we do it, we just want to qualify. We’ve even been working on our penalty shooting.”

He continued, “Roma are an excellent side you have to be intelligent in how you play your game. I don’t want to discuss tactics but even if we don’t score until the 80th minute, that’s still plenty of time to try and chase another goal or go to penalties”.
