Samp manager Marco Giampaolo held his press conference today ahead of the match against Roma, here are his words:
Could you talk about the international break?
Every club has to accept international call-ups. The players that stayed here did some good work. Those who represented their national sides came back in good shape, but of course missed some of the work we did. We’re going to be up against a quality side, but we’ll approach the game with confidence. The match against Roma is a test just like any other match: every match has its pitfalls.
Surely the match against Roma will also serve as a test.
I will need to assess the personality of this team. We’ll have to give everything in the game, we need to work hard. We’ll capitalise on any shortcomings from Roma.
Turn over?
We will evaluate this later, perhaps this will happen when we face our third match in seven days.
Muriel?
He trained with us this morning, he has worked hard to get back up to speed and will play.
On the other side of the bench there will Spalletti.
The relationship with Spalletti started long ago: it is a beautiful friendship. He has a different way of thinking in football, talking to him enriches you.
The strength of a team?
Every team needs to work together, as a group, so it’s important to spend time together outside of training. We’ll see what the team is made of when the going gets tough, that’s when we’ll have to show we’re a collective unit.
