Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini had nothing but words of praise for Daniele De Rossi whom he faced in last night’s 2-1 win over Roma.
After leading his side over the Giallorossi, Gasperini told reporters at full-time, “I have enormous esteem for him. In the last match that he played as a footballer here in Bergamo he told me that he wanted to become a coach and if he could come and watch some training. Unfortunately this never materialized, but I strongly hope so, I admire him very much, but also for what he did for Roma.”
“With him Roma are back to playing football. He puts playing football above everything else. I thank him for this, Rome is a wonderful place but football had become secondary over the last two years.”
“With De Rossi in charge Roma have played some really good games. They play well as a team. I really hope that he can bring back this type of thought, this philosophy and vision, and only he can do it. He knows this club from the inside.”
