Gianluca Mancini assumes coaching duties in the absence of Mourinho, Salvatore Foti and Nuno Santos

Gianluca Mancini continues to grow as a leader for Roma.

Ever since Jose Mourinho’s appointment, the Italian defender – once considered an erratic hot-head – improved not only in his performances but his leadership and attitude on and off the pitch as well.

Most recently, Mancini assumed coaching duties in the final minutes of Roma-Spezia as the Giallorossi were without Jose Mourinho and assistant coach Salvatore Foti had been ejected. Similarly, Nuno Santos was on the verge of another suspension.

Over the past season, Mancini collected 51 appearances for Roma, second only to Bryan Cristante. His development and maturity have helped Mourinho in transmitting his mentality and tactics to the other players.

Roma want to keep Mancini for as long as possible, together with Lorenzo Pellegrini and Bryan Cristante.
