Roma defender Gianluca Mancini took the floor after the final whistle to Salernitana-Roma, and addressed the team’s performance in their first game of the season which ended in a 1-0 win for the Giallorossi.
“The first matchday is always tricky, always,” Mancini told DAZN. “But we stood our ground to the very end.”
“We deserved two more goals. Fortunately we didn’t risk much but the danger is always nearby in these games. Let’s hope we can score more as we go forward.”
When asked whether club needs to sign an additional defender in this transfer window, Mancini replied, “If someone were to come in and improve the team, sure. They’d be welcome.”
“In order to win, you need many great players. I don’t decide the club’s transfers but if an additional defender were to come, they’d be welcome.”
On Roma’s objectives this season, Mancini commented optimistically. “Winning the Conference League gave us the awareness that we can win.”
“We play each game separately, with their ups and downs. We have great depth now and strong players, so we’ll compete.”
