Roma defender Gianluca Mancini had high praise for Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho after the team’s aggregate win vs Bayer Leverkusen.
In his post-match reaction, Mancini discussed at length Mourinho’s impact on the team and their mentality heading into a difficult return leg in Germany.
“We all know the gaffer’s level and his international experience. After all, he has played so many finals.”
“He gave us something extra from a mentality point of view. After the Conference League final, which was something unthinkable and fantastic, we wanted to raise the bar and our goal, unlike some others, is to get to win European competitions.”
“We haven’t done anything yet, there’s a final left to be played and we want to do everything we can to bring the cup home.”
“Let’s enjoy this moment and from tomorrow we have to think about the league games to prepare for the 31st of May.”
“The coach brought this strong identity of the group since day one. The strength of the group is superior to everything, we are good players but we all have to work together. If one or two stop doing it, we become a very normal team.”
“Mourinho brought this strong mentality. Everyone plays to win, but saying it and actually doing are two different things.”
