Roma vice-captain Gianluca Mancini rallied his men ahead of a crucial match against Udinese at the weekend.

The Italian defender spoke to Roma TV about yesterday’s loss to Feyenoord and the necessary reaction in the upcoming games.

“We knew that the support in their stadium would help them, but we kept going despite the energy of the home crowd,” said Mancini.

“Penalties are part of football, they can be hit or miss. Lorenzo had the personality to kick it. We conceded a rather strange goal, we tried to score ourselves and we were unlucky with Ibanez’s crossbar hit.”

“But we are serene and compact despite the loss. Now we have an important match on Sunday and then on Thursday we will count on the Olimpico to push us to the next round,” he added.

“In the second half we showed willingness to score so let’s hope we can keep it up in the return leg.”
