Gianluca Mancini returns to Rome after picking up injury with Italy

Gianluca Mancini was forced to follow in Lorenzo Pellegrini’s footsteps and return to Rome from international duty.

The Giallorossi centreback featured in Italy’s starting eleven last night versus North Macedonia but had to abandon the pitch early in the second half due to a muscle issue.

Early reports claim Mancini suffered muscle fatigue in his right hip abductor and was ruled out for Italy’s remaining engagements.

Mancini returned to the capital earlier today and will undergo further medical assessments ahead of the upcoming match with Empoli.
