Roma defender Gianluca Mancini is set to face a lengthy suspension following his heated dispute with referee Daniele Orsato on Wednesday night.

Mancini – who was acting as Roma’s captain in their recent Derby defeat with Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals – was sent off by Orsato in the final minutes of added time.

Apparently, Orsato produced the red card in response to Mancini’s vocal remarks directed at him.

As a result, the Sporting Judge reviewed the footage and released the verdict: Mancini will face a three-match suspension in the next edition of the Coppa Italia.

This means that the centre-back will miss the round of 16, possible quarter-finals and the possible first leg of the tournament’s semi-final.
