Just a few days ahead of their showdown at the San Siro against Milan, Roma and manager Paulo Fonseca have been dealt a massive blow.
Central defender Gianluca Mancini has revealed on his official Instagram page today that he has tested positive for COVID-19, which rules him out for Monday evening’s fixture.
The Italian international becomes the seventh player at Roma to test positive for the virus since September.
”Hi everyone, I’ve tested positive for COVID, which means I have to go into quarantine,” revealed the defender.
“Fortunately, I’m feeling good and I’m already counting down the days until I can get back on the pitch. See you soon and Forza Roma!”
Mancini has been a fixture in Paulo Fonseca’s starting formation ever since his arrival last year from Atalanta. It remains to be seen who will replace the 23 year-old on Monday, but the Giallorossi are hoping that they can recover fellow defender Chris Smalling, who suffered a knee sprain last week in training.
