Legendary Juventus goal-keeper Gianlugi Buffon admitted once again in a recent interview that he had been close to becoming a Roma shot-stopper in the past.

While discussing his career with La Repubblica, Buffon mentioned how it was a matter of details between him and the Giallorossi.

“In 2001, from Parma, I almost made it to Roma, it was a matter of details. In the end, however, I went to Juventus.”

“Once the World Cup was over, I could go anywhere. In 2007 there were at least two Italian teams. And in 2011 I was on my way to Roma again, because something had gone sour with Juventus: Montali called me, I liked him.”

“But then Conte arrived and he requested me to stay.”
