Legendary Juventus goal-keeper Gianluigi Buffon was asked about Roma’s decision to appoint his former Italy teammate, Daniele De Rossi, as their new head coach.
In an interview with Radio Romanista, Buffon described De Rossi as the best man for the job given the difficult circumstances Roma found themselves in.
“With Daniele we speak five-six times a year and I already wished him the best of luck in this new adventure,” said Buffon.
“There’s no better man or professional than him to take the reins of Roma now and perhaps also for the future, especially after Mourinho’s farewell I believe that there was only one choice to make and it was made.”
“Also, I think he’s still got plenty in store for us – he’s got a lot riding on this spell, but we haven’t yet seen what he’s capable of.”
