Roma midfielder Gini Wijnaldum continues to make progress in his recovery from the fractured tibia he suffered in late August. According to the latest reports, the player is expected to make his return to the pitch in January.

The Dutchman was recently interviewed by ESPN.nl, where – among other things – he talked about his recovery.

“Rehab is going in the right direction. When the injury first took place I cried for several days, I was sad,” Wijnaldum said.

“Now I live like a monk, let’s say, but I feel very good. I am seeing a lot of progress, even though I now live away from my family. I come back to Holland on weekends, it’s a sacrifice I have to make. Now, I’m completely on my own.”

“I really only see two places every day:my apartment and the training ground. I just have to get over this moment as soon as possible.”
