Gini Wijnaldum “grateful” to Mourinho, discusses Roma spell

Andy Mattioli

Dutch midfielder Gini Wijnaldum reflected on his recent loan spell at Roma.

After making his return to PSG, Wijnaldum discussed his time in the Italian capital and the experience of working with Jose Mourinho in an interview with L’Equipe.

“Many things are said about Mourinho, but he was great with me. When I needed him, I could count on him. I’m a better footballer thanks to him.”

“It was a very short season after I suffered the leg injury. It only really lasted three and a half months. I returned to Rome in December, after having been in Holland for rehabilitation. The club helped me a lot during this time and I really enjoyed playing there,” he added.

“My future? I don’t know. I must meet with PSG because there’s still plenty of things that are unclear to me.”
