Giovanni Stroppa previews first encounter with Mourinho in Roma showdown

Monza manager Giovanni Stroppa attended a pre-match press conference where he discussed his anticipation of meeting Mourinho for the first time as well as the main threats that Roma can pose on Tuesday night at the Stadio Olimpico.

Coming off three straight losses in all three games of the new Serie A season thus far, Monza are looking to improve their record in a packed Olimpico.

“Roma’s strength is the unity of the group, they have the kind of characteristics that great teams have. They have an engine that goes beyond the basic one you normally encounter in Serie A,” Stroppa remarked.

“It will be very difficult. Roma is a team that among other things is used to playing twice a week. I don’t know if there will be any changes in their line-up, but we have to expect everything.”

“They are the strongest team when it comes to set pieces, they attack the goal well: we will see what happens, but we have worked hard leading up to this match.”

“Until yesterday we watched Mourinho on television, now we get to see him live,” said Stroppa of his first career encounter with the Special One.

“I think he has given incredible value to the league, and he is doing important things in Rome. We all know it is never easy to coach there. He won in his first year, this year he seems to be doing even better.”
