Gladbach’s sporting director on Zakaria: “We will try to extend his contract.”

One of Roma’s most rumored targets for the midfield in these last days of the summer transfer window is Swiss international Denis Zakaria of Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The German side’s sporting director, Max Eberl, spoke of their wish to extend Zakaria’s contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2022.

“We’ll try and talk with Denis about extending his contract.”

He added:

“In these times with the coronavirus, the players shouldn’t risk too much. They could end up all of a sudden without a club at the end of their contract.”

Roma would first have to offload a midfielder in order to bring in someone like Zakaria. The 24-year-old is well-liked by both Tiago Pinto and Jose Mourinho.
