Spanish midfielder Gonzalo Villar will soon make his return to Roma after two unsuccessful loan spells at Sampdoria and Getafe.
Despite enjoying his time in La Liga, Getafe have decided against activating the option in Villar’s deal, sending him back to the Italian capital.
In a recent interview with Cronache Di Spogliatoio, Villar reaffirmed his willingness to play for Jose Mourinho despite the Special One excluded him from his plans numerous times over the last two years.
“I hope to be able to return to Roma, where I still have a year of contract, and to play my cards right, proving my worth,” said Villar.
“I think, given the many injuries this year, I could have given them a hand. It would be an honour for me to become part of that group again and be able to play under the orders of Mourinho, one of the greatest coaches of the last twenty years.”
“If it were up to me, I would leave now so I could be in Trigoria tomorrow.”
“Mourinho? I have great respect for Mou. He immediately told me, from the first day, that he preferred midfielders with qualities different from mine. I tried in every way to get noticed in training but unfortunately it didn’t go well.”
“Overall my life in Rome lasted only a full season; despite this I always root for them, I followed all the games, including the lost final in Budapest.”
