Gonzalo Villar is completing the second half to the season in his home country, after signing with Getafe in January along with fellow Roma player and good friend Borja Mayoral. Villar is likely to return to the capital in June, but for now the midfielder is enjoying his time in Spain.
Villar spoke about his January move to Getafe’s official channels. “Moving here was what I really needed,” he said.
“When you go through some rough moments, you always need to go back to familiar settings,” he continued, alluding to the fact that he emerged from Spain’s second division with Elche.
“Here I found an amazing dressing room, a real family, I feel like I have been here for 4 years and now that I have started playing with continuity I am rediscovering that confidence and those minutes that I badly needed.”
He concluded, “Now I’m fine, I’m close to my family. The truth is that this experience is what I needed after a few difficult months.”
