Lucas Gourna-Douath joined Roma on loan from Red Bull Salzburg in January last season to strengthen their midfield.
His transfer also included a buy-out option, but the Roman club, after the Frenchman had played only six games under Claudio Ranieri, decided not to pay the Austrian club the agreed fee, close to €19 million.
The 2003-born midfielder shared his farewell to the club on his Instagram profile.
