After a spectacular showing against the reigning world champions, Granit Xhaka, voted man of the match, gave an interview where he hinted at his desire to join Roma. When asked if he would like to continue the interview in Italian, the Swiss international laughed.
“Italian? Not yet… It is always interesting to learn a new language. We’ll see,” he said.
“Everybody knows what Roma represents. Right now I am an Arsenal player, I’ll speak after the Euros.”
Following this brief interview, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport confirmed Roma’s offer for the midfielder of €12 million + €3 million in add-ons. Additionally, he revealed that the Gunners made a promise to Xhaka that if an offer of €15 million were to arrive, the club would accept it.
Thus, everything points to Xhaka being one step closer to joining Mourinho’s Roma.
