Following Di Francesco’s sacking, ex-Udinese man Igor Tudor was appointed as Verona’s new manager for the current campaign.
Tudor addressed the media ahead of Sunday’s clash vs Roma at the Bentegodi stadium in Verona.
On how he will approach his first game in charge of Hellas Verona against an in-form team like Roma:
“Roma are doing well, they have a coach who made football history.”
“We prepared it as well as possible: we had two training sessions, today we have the finishing touch. We prepare as best as we can. The team worked well, I saw the desire to do things the right way, tomorrow there will be great motivations.”
“We play in our stadium, we haven’t won for a long time… We want to do well, a fair performance, with concrete things, without distractions. We want to do the things we have tried, then we will see the result.
On his past duels on the pitch with Totti:
“Those are things from twenty years ago, beautiful to remember, against a great champion.”
“Roma now have strong players, they are in a good moment. It’s always good to play against these teams. We have to work on everything, we need to grow, but I have seen the boys doing well and I am looking forward to the game.”
“We have worked on everything, we still have one more training session ahead of us and we are confident.
On what worries him the most about Roma:
“The coach. Then he has strong players: even those on the bench would suit any Serie A team. We are focused on ourselves: we respect our opponents, but we want to be okay tomorrow.”
