Former Roma attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan – fresh off a contract extension with Inter Milan – reflected on his rapport with Jose Mourinho.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mkhitaryan looked back on his years of working with Mourinho at Manchester United and Roma where the pair won a Conference League trophy together.
“From the first moment I arrived in Italy I thought that Serie A was underrated,” said the Armenian veteran who joined Roma in 2019.
“Already from the first match played in Italy, Roma-Sassuolo, I was struck by the quality. And even the footballers are unfairly underestimated: there are strong players here, we must be proud of this league.”
“For me it all started with Lucescu at Donetsk, then Mou was the toughest, but he was a real winner: he saw nothing but victory,” said Mkhitaryan of his former United and Roma boss.
