Roma defender Roger Ibañez was thrilled his side began the new year with a win after they defeated Bologna 1-0 this evening in the Italian capital.
Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini’s penalty goal early in the first half was enough to secure all three points for the Giallorossi, who face a huge showdown on Sunday evening versus Milan.
“Our goal was to start the new year off with a victory, now it’s important we continue on this path,” he told Roma TV.
“We suffered a bit tonight but we managed to do well. It’s important we carry the right mindset and strength moving forward.”
Finally, “It was really great to restart the season at home in front of our supporters and see them singing and cheering. Tonight was an important win and now we’ll travel (to face Milan) with the proper spirit.”
