It wasn’t that long ago, namely last January, that Roma and Inter were in talks that would have seen Edin Dzeko join the Milano-based team and Alexis Sanchez head in the capital’s direction. The deal eventually fell through and both players remained at their respective clubs.

Inter, however, are getting ready to part ways with their leading goal-scorer, Romelu Lukaku, who is bound to sign with Chelsea in the coming days. The Nerazzurri are thus looking around for potential replacements. So far the list of candidates includes Atalanta’s Zapata, Lazio’s Correa and… Roma’s Edin Dzeko.

According to Calciomercato.com, Inter are intrigued by Dzeko as a short-term solution mostly due to the fact that his contract is set to expire next year.

The Bosnian striker, despite looking more motivated than ever under Mourinho’s watchful eye in preseason, would reportedly consider an offer for a two-year contract. At 35 years of age, Dzeko was expected to depart the Italian capital over the course of this transfer window. This hasn’t been the case so far.

If Inter were to offer him two years’ worth of contract with an option for a third one, the Bosnian international would not think twice about it.

It remains to be seen which direction Inter decide to undertake following the sale of Romelu Lukaku that could potentially reach an absurd amount of €130 million.
