Legendary Inter defender Marco Materazzi discussed Sunday’s showdown at San Siro between the Nerazzurri and Mourinho’s Roma.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Materazzi criticized Romelu Lukaku and spoke about Mourinho’s return to San Siro despite his suspension.

“Lukaku is not being forgiven by Inter fans due to the way he handled the situation and the timing of it,” declared the World Cup winner.

“He said that when he will decide to speak, many things will become clearer: we hope so, but we, Inter fans, are still waiting. If I had made a choice like his, I would have already explained myself. And I would have explained it well a long time ago.”

“Mourinho? He is unique because he has the ability to be everything: coach, family man, friend you can joke with, but who gets pissed off if you don’t behave like a friend. He’s there to create empathy. Not to accept compromises. He’s able to touch the right buttons: yours, the deeper ones, and above all those of the “enemies”. And to multiply your energy, until you feel strong, stronger than everyone.”

“I doubt that he’s been loved anywhere else the same way he was loved at Inter. Because those two years were a unique story: not necessarily better than others, but unique. And perhaps unrepeatable.”
