Inter are eyeing Roma defender Chris Smalling.
The centreback’s future remains uncertain as Smalling holds an option to extend his contract with the capital club for an additional year after the current expiry date is set for June 2023.
Roma have held talks with the player’s entourage but the decision is entirely up to him. In the meantime, Inter director Piero Ausilio is carefully monitoring the situation.
According to calciomercato.com, Inter do not want to run the risk of being used by Smalling’s agent as leverage to guarantee a more salient contract with Mourinho’s side. Thus, Ausilio wants for a clear sign from the player himself.
Inter are reportedly ready to offer the veteran defender a two-year contract.
