Italian referees’ association President admits error in Roma-Inter

Marcello Nicchi, the President of the Italian referees’ association, spoke today to Adnkronos and admitted a massive error was committed when VAR was not consulted after Nicolo Zaniolo was tripped-up in the first half against Inter. These are his words:

“I have nothing to say except acknowledge that an inconceivable error was made, which the designator will take care of. It’s an inconceivable error, but we must try to turn the page and go back to talking about football. Unfortunately, this happened and those in charge will examine and take the necessary measures”.
