Italian super agent Mino Raiola has passed away following a long term battle with illness, his family announced this afternoon.

The 54 year-old had been undergoing treatments at San Raffaele hospital in Milano since January.

“Mino fought until the end with the same strength he put on negotiation tables to defend our players. As usual, Mino made us proud and never realised it,” they wrote on social media.

“Mino touched so many lives through his work and wrote a new chapter in the history of modern football. His presence will be forever missed.”

“Mino’s mission of making football a better place for players will continue with the same passion. We thank everyone for the huge support we received during this difficult time.”

After initially entering football as an administrator, Raiola developed into one of the most notable, outspoken, and influential agents in the history of modern football.

He represented a number of high-profile players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pavel Nedvěd, Paul Pogba, Marco Veratti, Mario Balotelli, Erling Halaand, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and many more.
