Italy manager Luciano Spalletti paid high praise to Lorenzo Pellegrini during today’s press conference at Coverciano.
With only one week to go before the start of EURO 2024, the Italian technician and ex-Roma boss spoke to the media about some of his decisions with regards to the definitive squad selection.
During his media appearance, Spalletti also discussed the decision to give Lorenzo Pellegrini the prestigious number 10 jersey.
“Given the qualities that Pellegrini has, he can wear the number 10 correctly,” said Spalletti.
“He’s got the goods to wear it and he’s a player who knows how to move on the pitch, who knows how to take free kicks and penalties.”
“He has the technique to help his teammates and is always in good shape with body posture, he also knows how to dribble past his man in very little space. He’s the one who will wear the number 10.”
“Barella could also have worn this number but he is a different player with different qualities,” added Spalletti.
