Ivan Juric bemoans wasted chances after Torino lose 3-2 to Roma

Torino boss Ivan Juric lamented his side’s wasted goalscoring chances following their 3-2 loss versus Roma on Monday evening.

A hat-trick from Paulo Dybala lifted the Giallorossi past the Granata, who suffered their second defeat in a row after their six-match unbeaten streak to begin 2024 was snapped last week.

“Over these past two games (against Lazio and Roma), I think we created 38 shots and conceded 14, yet we lost both,” Juric told DAZN.

“I think we wasted a lot of dangerous opportunities in the first half—we should’ve done better and been more ruthless. We were naive and that comes at a price. The team is performing well but we’re lacking something in order to win games like this.”

“We’ll have to evaluate if this loss is related to a lack of mental energy. We dominate the first half but then Dybala scores a Eurogol—so it’s difficult to accept. However, it’s still a positive that we can dominate a game despite missing several players.”

Finally, “Though, we still need to find the right mix in order to bring home all three points. We’re an extremely wasteful side, we really lack that final shot but we’ve got a lot of youngsters in our side. Nonetheless, it’s still a shame we can’t capitalise on the situations we create.”

“We were unlucky against Lazio, too. We score far too few goals relative to number of attacking situations we create.”
