Javier Pastore on his Roma switch in 2018: “I didn’t want to leave PSG.”

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma midfielder Javier Pastore recounted his disappointing spell at the capital club and discussed his decision to move away from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, becoming one of Roma’s biggest signings at the time.

“Leaving PSG was very, very difficult,” the Argentine footballer told Oh My Goal. “I didn’t want to leave them in the first place.”

“My heart was telling me to stay there for another five years, but it was the right moment to go somewhere else. I didn’t want to be stubborn even though the whole process was complicated.”

“It wasn’t the right thing for me to do to stay there. I wasn’t good enough for PSG.”

“Had I stayed, it would have been a dream to play with the likes of Messi and Mbappe, to be able to train with them and tell my children all about it.”
