Former Inter defender Javier Zanetti – currently serving as the vice-president of the Nerazzurri – recently admitted that his side had pursued Dybala during the summer window before veering toward Romelu Lukaku instead.
Zanetti addressed the rumors in an appearance at the Festival dello Sport.
“It’s true,” he said. “We were engaged in negotiations with Dybala, but then once we signed Lukaku we were complete from an attacking standpoint.”
“I see him doing well at Roma,” Zanetti added. “I know Mourinho and I know he can get the most out of him.”
