Roma Primavera winger Joao Costa was given a chance by Daniele De Rossi to feature from the start in this evening’s friendly with Al Shabab.

The youngster gave Roma the lead and impressed everyone including the newly appointed head coach who could give him more playing time in Roma’s official games in the weeks to come.

“It’s an indescribable emotion,” Costa told Roma TV at full-time. “I am very happy for the opportunity that the coach has given me. It’s a dream to score the first goal with the Roma shirt, a unique thing which is even more beautiful because today is my brother’s birthday,

“It’s a day I will never forget, an indescribable day,” he added.

“All of us from the Primavera are working really hard every day, always showing that we want to be here with the first team. I’m happy that so many of us have gotten a chance to be called up. It’s a great thing to see.”
