Liverpool defender Joel Matip is keen on starting a new chapter in his career with Roma as one of the potential suitors.

The veteran defender intends to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.

Having moved to England from Schalke at the explicit request of Klopp in 2016, he won, among other things, both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Nearing 33 years of age, Matip is reportedly willing to consider options from abroad, having shown interest in playing in Serie A.

Matip is a Cameroon national but has a German passport. At the beginning of the season he was a starter, he is recovering from the rupture of the cruciate in his right knee, but he would be available for the start of the training camp.

According to Corriere della Sera, his entourage have began shopping him around Italy: Lazio and Roma are the main clubs to have shown interest in the experienced centreback.
