Roma manager Jose Mourinho was disappointed at the late defeat to Salzburg in last night’s first leg of the Europa League knockout round given the Giallorossi’s good performance away from home.
The Portuguese technician lamented the several missed chances.
“An utterly undeserved defeat,” Mourinho told Roma TV after the game. “But to win you have to score goals and we didn’t. We played very well as a team, the boys gave everything, we were the best team on the pitch.”
“We go again on Thursday night, keeping in mind that they’re up by one goal.”
“However, I can’t think about the return leg yet. First we have to think about Verona. With our limited roster and the fatigue setting in, it’s difficult for us to think about next Thursday. It’s already difficult to focus on Sunday.”
