Jose Mourinho was asked to address his side’s humiliating defeat to Cremonese in tonight’s Coppa Italia quarterfinal.

“First of all – congratulations to Cremonese. They got two huge wins in this tournament so far. They deserve to be in the semifinal,” he told Mediaset after the game.

“We lose because of horrible first half, really of a very low level. Afterwards, in the second half we are penalized by an individual error, which is out of context. They make it 0-2 and then we show a good reaction, but they defended with a lot of people in the back.”

“With a little bit of luck, we could have scored earlier. I’ve learned not to cry in defeat and look forward to the next one.”

“This is a squad that struggles to rotate and even more so with 3 games in a week,” he added.

“I was proud of my team after we lost to Napoli because we deserved a better result. That’s not the case tonight. In my mind this game is over and I’m thinking about the next one.”

“Tonight I had to choose. Do I start Paulo and risk having him out for a month but we advance to the semifinal? Did you see how Matic moved in the final minutes with Napoli? It’s odd to me that we play tonight and on Saturday. If I don’t rotate, the players risk injuries. What happens after a game is subjective. The objective observation is we played bad tonight.”
