Jose Mourinho appeared in a post-match interview with Roma TV where he paid his compliments to the staff of match analysts and his players who were able to complete an impressive comeback against RB Salzburg in last night’s Europa League victory.

“We were clearly the better team in the first leg and we deserved it today,” Mourinho said after the game. “You suffer, not for the game but for the result: you could feel that we were close to scoring a third goal, that we were in control, that even when they had the ball we were calm.”

“I want to congratulate the boys and the staff, because they did a great job: the analysts worked really hard to prepare for this match. A fantastic job in a very busy period of the season.”

“El Shaarawy deserved to play but I told him I needed a plan B; Tammy was banged-up; Solbakken was not there; with El Shaarawy starting there was no possibility of letting someone else enter the second half, knowing that Lorenzo and Paulo weren’t at their best. Stephan was sacrificed from a strategic point of view and that’s why I salute him tonight. He did something truly unique.”
