Roma manager Jose Mourinho praised his side for the second half effort to equalize tonight’s match with Real Betis in Seville.
“It was a match with a great deal of pressure. It was direct elimination because if we lost we were out of the competition,” he said after the final whistle.
“Going into the second half down 1-0 was real pressure. With all the problems we have, with all the injuries, disqualifications, fatigue and playing against a fresh team… our passion and effort got us back into the game in the second half.”
“A draw tonight is a real lifeline for us,” Mourinho added.
“Belotti and Abraham? They were disastrous in the first half. I gave them a proper talking-to in the dressing room. They came out looking fantastic in the second half.”
