Following Roma’s scoreless draw with Real Sociedad in a crucial return leg with San Sebastian, Jose Mourinho praised his side for qualifying to the Europa League quarter finals.
“After the initial score of 2-0 Real Sociedad did all they possibly could to try to change the result, driven by their crowd of supporters.”
“Roma however gave everything and also scored a goal, which was cancelled. At first, we tried to attack. After that we recomposed ourselves defensively, looking for the counterattack. We never stopped trying to score goals.”
“The lads are the ones who put in the work, I help and make my contribution. We know that we have difficulties, such as Matic’s injury. Wijnaldum should not have played two consecutive 90 minute games in three days. We’ll head back to Rome tired but happy,” Mourinho added in post-match interview with Sky Sport.
