Jose Mourinho reacts to win over Juventus

Jose Mourinho spoke about the importance of tonight’s home victory over Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The Portuguese technician admitted he still hadn’t gotten over the defeat to Cremonese which in turn influenced his perception of tonight’s match.

“For me it’s still difficult to accept our performance with Cremonese,” he told DAZN at full-time. “We’re not the best team in the world and we have to play our hearts out each time to win.”

“I still haven’t gotten over the loss with Cremonese,” he added. “Tonight we win because of our attitude, not because of the tactical adjustments.”

“It’s difficult to play against a Juve that is so physical and compact. We had to sit further back in order to have more possession as they have faster players than we do.”

“For the most part we defended well and Rui made a miracle in the final minutes,” Mourinho remarked. “This is always important when you face Juventus.”

“Allegri? We’re good friends and we exchange texts very often. Now I must respect his frustration and sadness, but I like his team a lot. And I congratulate them because even with the 15-point deduction they’re still dangerous.”

“How feasible is finishing top four? Roma are a team that must be aware of their limits. When we are not at 100% we are a team that suffers a lot.”

“The league is a marathon. We’re aware that by focusing on individual matches we can win against teams like Juventus.”
