Former Bayer Leverkusen and Roma defender Juan gave an interview today to La Gazzetta dello Sport. These are his words:
Totti is now a director.
We occasionally exchange messages, especially once he announced his retirement. He brought Roma to such a high level. He can continue to do that, but from behind a desk. He’s a bandiera.
Roma has always had a good tradition with Brazilians. Alisson is a friend with whom I had the opportunity to play with for 3 seasons at Internacional. Even then he was considered one who would have an important future. At Internacional, he had a great season both in the league and Libertadores in 2015, so he drew the attention of the manager of the Seleção. He has everything to remain in the Seleção for a long time given his age and potential. He now has the opportunity to play with continuity. He is quick, technical, and a goalkeeper with a lot of personality.
He is one who knows Italian football well, he was already adapted to the style of Serie A. He also had experience at a big club thanks to Inter. He is a quick defender, has great recovery ability, and passes well.
And on the bench is Castan.
He had a good start at Roma, unfortunately, then his growth was curbed by the illness. I hope he can get back to his previous levels. He is in good physical shape with a different style than Juan Jesus, but they are both good defenders.
Your best European manager?
Spalletti. From the human point of view, he is very close to the players, and tactically he is good. He prepares for matches well.
