Former Roma shot-stopper Julio Sergio discussed the challenges in defending the Giallorossi’s goal while talking about Rui Patricio’s second season in the capital.
“Being a goalkeeper at Roma is never easy, always very difficult because it is an environment that thrives on very strong pressures and emotions,” Sergio told Centro Suono Sport.
“Small mistakes are often more annoying than big ones and can nag you for a long time. Rui Patricio is an important goalkeeper and he proved it last year, even in the Conference League final.”
“I hope he can return to high levels because having a goalkeeper who brings points and confidence is essential for a team.”
‘I think Roma had an excellent transfer window in the summer. Some players still haven’t been able to express themselves at their best, but I’m sure Mourinho is studying a way to improve everyone’s performance in the second half of the season.”
“Football is not simple, there is no perfect formula. Mourinho has always coached teams used to winning and Roma historically are a little less so, obviously excluding last year’s Conference League. Everyone in the club is doing their best. However, the players always make the difference, if they return with the right mindset and in good physical condition Roma will be able to do better.”
