Former Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio spoke in favor of a long-term future for Daniele De Rossi as the Giallorossi’s head coach.
In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb, Sergio said, “He has always been a leader of the team and he is proving to be so in his new role too. He knew how to make the right decisions and do things the right way.”
“Daniele was intelligent, he knew how to exploit this change in energy among the players after Mourinho’s departure and the answers can be seen on the pitch.”
“If there was another coach right now, would they deserve a new contract? Yes, because with what he did he demonstrated that he had character, intelligence and competence. It’s not because he is De Rossi that he should be judged differently: he is the coach, he knows it too, he has to prove it every day. I hope he can be like Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, but it depends on the results.”
“Svilar? He struggled for continuity at first, but now he is doing very, very well. He was decisive in important matches, he has physique, technique, personality, calmness. Let’s hope he can continue like this.”
