Ex-Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio appeared on Centro Suono Sport today to preview this weekend’s showdown between his former club and Juventus.
The 42 year-old, who made 60 total appearances during his time in the Italian capital, was confident that the Giallorossi have the ability to get a result against the Bianconeri on Sunday evening.
“There’s definitely a possibility Roma can win,” he explained.
“Juve lost Cristiano Ronaldo, which is a heavy loss, and this makes a huge difference. Roma must take advantage of this moment in front of them.”
“They’re improving with each match and must continue to do so, but as a supporter, I hope Roma manage to win on Sunday.”
The Brazilian then went on to praise the Giallorossi’s acquisitions of manager Jose Mourinho and veteran goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
“Certainly Mou will build an important squad with Roma. I still think that there’s two or three important pieces missing that can help raise their quality and fight for the Scudetto.”
“Though, the arrivals of players such as Rui Patricio is the right way to get on the path to winning the league. He’s brought confidence to this environment and has started the season really well.”
Adding, “You need to have a great mentality in order to be a goalkeeper at Roma, and he’s demonstrating that this is the case.”
