Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema was recently asked about his early years in Spain, especially with the arrival of legendary coach Jose Mourinho. The two initially did not get along with Benzema being vocal about his limited playing time under the Portuguese technician.
“I remember having a little problem with Mourinho,” Benzema told Onze Mondial. “We met in a hotel and had a long conversation to talk things out. It was the night before a match against Mallorca.”
“I wasn’t supposed to play in that game. And when I confronted him about it, I told him, tomorrow you’ll put me as a starter, and I will score and win you the game.”
“The day after I scored and we ended up winning the match 1-0,” concluded the French striker.
