Key meeting set for Friday between Spinazzola and his surgeon

Leonardo Spinazzola’s recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered during Euro 2020 seems to be nearing its final stages, reports Sky Sport.

The Italian wing-back is expected to meet with Dr. Lasse Lempainen – the Finnish surgeon from Turku who operated on him in July – on Friday afternoon.

The consultation will entail several physical and athletic tests, which will help determine whether Spinazzola is ready to return to group training.

Upon receiving the green light from Lempainen, the 28-year-old is expected to return at Jose Mourinho’s full disposal. However, before seeing him on the pitch, Spinazzola will reportedly need a few weeks of regular training in order to steadily improve his condition.
