Napoli star attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had been reportedly offered to Sevilla a few years ago, but former Roma sporting director Ramon Monchi rejected him.
As revealed by a member of Kvaratskhelia’s entourage, Pablo Ceijas, who acted as his intermediary in Europe, the Georgian player was close to Sevilla a few summers ago.
However, ultimately Monchi did not take the youngster into consideration.
“It happened a few years ago, long before his explosion. Now, at 22, he is destined to become a star on a par with Messi, Mbappé and Haaland and is sought after by everyone, to the point of being compared to Maradona, Ceijas said in a recent interview with Marca.
“There was talk of Valencia, Levante and Sevilla: he had been proposed for around €6 million. He was very close to the Andalusians but Monchi rejected him, because in his position the team was covered. Today he is worth €100 million and he could play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. But I think he will end up playing in the Premier League, only English clubs can pay that money.”
