Kluivert boards plane for Germany, El Shaarawy arriving

RomaPress – Roma attacker Justin Kluivert is ready to join RB Leipzig as the Giallorossi prepare for a reunion with Stephan El Shaarawy.

The 21 year-old Kluivert arrived at Ciampino Airport in Rome this afternoon to board a private flight bound for Germany. The Dutchman will join Julian Nagelsmann’s side on loan for €1.5 million with an obligation to buy, which will be activated after the attacker makes a specific number of appearances for the club.

Meanwhile, as RomaPress exclusively reported, the name that Roma wanted to bring to replace Kluivert was a familiar one: Stephan El Shaarawy.

The Italian has been training in Rome throughout the past few weeks after he and his brother-agent, Manuel, reached an agreement with his parent club, Shanghai Shenhua, to allow him to return to play in Europe ahead of the Euro’s next summer.

Once Roma found an agreement with RB Leipzig late this morning for Kluivert – coupled with the impending exit of Diego Perotti – the Giallorossi immediately contacted Shanghai Shenhua to close a loan deal for El Shaarawy. The Chinese side is requesting a small fee for the loan of the player due to the fact they will be paying a significant portion of his wages — something that should be resolved in the coming hours.

Before closing for El Shaarawy, Roma want to ensure that there are no problems for Kluivert’s move to RB Leipzig. Once the green light arrives from Germany, the Giallorossi will make the return of “il Faraone” official.
